Bridges Not Walls
September 2025
Truss House — Denver, CO
An exhibition emphasizing the power of the Bridge as a symbol of transformation, connection, and compassion.
This series of paintings, mosaics, and installations have a common language rooted in indigenous symbolism; creating a narrative where a bridge becomes an essential tool connecting cultures and ideas —this body of work is a story of international and inter-temporal relationships; where an energy exchange that creates the foundation of a bridge becomes a colorful expression of the experience of intimacy and deep empathy. Roan created this exhibition as an invitation to participate in the ongoing act of creation, crossing metaphorical bridges where each heartbeat echoes the primordial energy of the cosmos and our human experiences. We can find bridges in the indigenous stories that are the foundation of modern culture, voices forgotten, and connections between borders rejected. In this exhibition, folkloric storytelling and philosophy meet—a testament to the enduring power of ancestral knowledge and the infinite ways in which we can interpret, celebrate, and co-create.
